How to Write Winning Sales Copy

18 April, 2008 (16:49) | Writing & Speaking | By: admin

You’ve created the product. You’ve sharpened your skills. Now it’s time to get your message out. How will you do that? The most effective way is through your Web site. How do you generate sales or land clients from your Web site? By writing winning sales copy that’s how. You have only a few seconds to grab the attention of your reader, regardless of whether they are looking for a product or a service.

When writing sales copy and designing your Web site, keep some of the basics principles of marketing in mind. I always think back to an acronym my marketing professor taught us in college — AIDA. It stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action. If you keep this principle in mind while you’re writing, you’re sure to create compelling copy and move your reader to buy or ask for more information.

Attention — grab your reader’s attention right off the bat. Create a headline that pulls your reader in. Put it in big, bold, red letters. Draw their attention to it immediately.

Interest — once you’ve got their attention, you need to keep it. Make sure your copy holds their interest. Identify a problem they can relate to or an issue they have in their business that is common. The key to keeping their interest is to keep the focus on them. They don’t care about you — only what you can do for them.

Desire — ignite their need to have what you are offering. Make sure your sales copy reflects the benefits your customers will receive from buying your product or using your service. Tell them how they can make more money, have a better love life or learn something they’ve always wanted to and you’ll ignite that desire.

Action — move your reader to buy or to contact you for more information. Whatever your goal with your copy, be sure to make it clear to your reader. If you want them to buy your product — tell them to buy now; if you want them to contact you for more information — tell them to contact you now. Often readers want to be told what to do in order to reach their goals. So tell them — act now and you’ll be on the road to success!

Whatever it is that you sell — product or service — the principle is the same. You must grab your potential customer or client’s attention, pique their interest, ignite their desire and move them to action. The easiest most effective way to do that is by writing winning sales copy.

Keep these ideas in mind the next time you’re working on your Web site or product sales page and incorporate some of the ideas into your own material. I think you’ll find the effort will result in increased traffic, inquiries and sales. It all boils down to writing wisely.

Why Write Articles?

18 April, 2008 (16:49) | Writing & Speaking | By: admin

That’s a good question. Why write articles indeed. It’s all about exposure, about getting yourself out there. Being recognised as someone who knows the subject they are writing about and someone who knows it well.

Writing an article on the subject of your choice is a great way to get yourself recognised, to spread the word about you as an individual. So why would you want to do that? The primary aim for writing an article is to drive traffic to a specific website you want to promote. The great thing with articles is that the traffic you get is targeted traffic. In other words people are reading your article because it’s on a subject they are interested in.

Where does the traffic come from? You will have noticed that most article directory sites allow you to have a biog or resource box which appears at the end of the article. This is where you write a little information about yourself and include a link back to the website you want to promote. With most article directory’s there are restrictions on what you are allowed to link back to so it’s advisable to look up the sites’ terms of service or submission guidelines first.

Now here’s the clever bit. There are millions of websites out there, all of which require content. Some of the website owners will be writing their own content, but a large proportion get their content from article directory sites. This is a win win situation. The website owner gets fresh content on tap for free and your article gets listed on many different websites around the globe. If the website owner is using your article correctly, your resource box will remain intact with the link back to your website. Now your getting exposure.

How much does is cost? Well, it’s free. Okay so it will cost you a little time but that’s about all it will cost. A little time to write the article, a little time to submit the article and a little time to wait for the word to spread.

Submitting articles is free and although most article directory sites require you to set up an account, which is free, you are ready to go and submit as many articles as you like. Once you have written your article and have checked the spelling etc. and submitted it, the directory owners will review the article first just to make sure there isn’t anything in there that shouldn’t be. This usually takes a couple of days and then the article is live. Log into your article directory account and most will have an area where you can view your article statistics. Here you can view the number of times your article has been downloaded for use on another website. You’ll be surprised how the download count steadily rises over the days following the article submission.

Try this for fun! If you’ve never submitted an article before or had an any exposure on the internet before, then do a search on your name or the pen name you used to write your article. You’ll be amazed at where your article ends up. But remember, it’s all about exposure and it’s all free advertising.

In summary, article writing is free, it gets you exposure, it gets targeted traffic to your site and it’s fun.

Exciting Audio Books Online

18 April, 2008 (16:49) | Writing & Speaking | By: admin

Although I love my work, parts of my research and writing can be demanding. I am a natural nutritionist, specializing in preparing articles, e-books, and other written material that shows people, like you, on how to understand and use natural remedies. Being able to make a career by writing was in many ways a dream come true, but it also has a downside to it. For every minute of pure joy on writing what I like, there are times when I need to relax, be entertained, or to learn new things about my business. During those times, I need something interesting to listen to. Music can be relaxing, but sometimes I need something different. Sometimes what I really want is a good story. Often I like to listen to radio broadcasts, or to sit down to the Discovery Channel, but more often I just listen to audio books online. I have always enjoyed a good book, and I discovered that by listen to audio books I have added a new dimension to my living. When I listen to online audio books, it is like being read to and I don’t need to think too much. I have always loved stories, and like almost everyone I know, I learned a love of literature by being read to. I used to rent audio books from the library, and they have a good selection but not always the latest, but I quickly exhausted the possibilities. I had listened to literally every book on tape that they had! That is when I decided to start to download audio books online. Some of them were available for free, but only a few of them. Then I found a service that would give me almost any book that I wanted for a reasonable monthly price. It was well worth it. When I listen to audio books online, I become more productive, more efficient, and happier in my work. I also purchase audio books online that are downloadable and I can move them into my ipod, mp3 player, flash hard drive stick, CD, or just my computer. I think the mp3 player is a revolution, since it allows you to download audio topics and you can turn your wasted time into learning time. The information that you can now find through audio books online is amazing. Something about the audio books online is rejuvenating and exciting for me. When I download online fiction books, informational books, or educational books, I and listen to them in my spare time it relaxes me and at the end of the day I feel good about myself. . My wife has even commented on the change. Listen to audio books that I download online has added a new dimension in my living and learning.

Rudy Silva is a natural nutritionist. To look at a list of different health audio books online go to: http://www.excitingaudiobooks.spokennetwork.com. There you will find audio books on a large number of categories for entertainment or for discovering or learning subjects.

When You are Comparing Things, Then You Use Than

18 April, 2008 (16:49) | Writing & Speaking | By: admin

What? I know it can be confusing — figuring out when to use than instead of then. In fact, there are many confusing words in the English language. Some sound the same, but are spelled differently and mean different things. Some don’t sound the same, are spelled the same but mean something different. Mastering the English language is a challenge. Don’t worry about mastering the language, just make sure you’re using the right words when you’re writing and you’ll be fine.

So, when do you use then instead of than? The general rule is that “than” is used when you are doing a comparison. This yard is bigger than that one. That flower is prettier than yours.

Then has numerous meanings. It can indicate a point of time — I will be ready then. It can mean next or afterward — I will go to the bank then the store. It can also mean in addition, also, on top of that — She told me to leave, and then that I owed her money. Finally, then can also mean in that case or therefore — If you want to ride, then you’ll have to put on your seat belt.

Than is only used in comparisons. If you’re not comparing something, you have to use then. What could be easier than that explanation?

Another word that gives people problems is their, there, or they’re. “There” is a location —
The baby is over there. “Their” is possessive — I went to their house. “They’re” is “they are” — They’re watching us. The trick to using the right word is to slow down and think about why you’re using the word. Are you trying to demonstrate a location, indicate a possession or form a contraction? Remember to check trouble words like this during the proofreading process.

“You’re” and “your” are often confused as well. “Your” is possessive while “you’re” means you are. You’re wearing your shirt inside out. The same rule applies to “it’s” and “its” — “its” is possessive and “it’s” represents it is. It’s important to use the safety features developed by its manufacturer.

Many of these words are misused primarily because as writers and proofreaders, we are in too big of a hurry. If we slow down and think about the words we are using as we write, chances are we won’t have many corrections to make during the proofreading process. In addition, slow down while proofreading to ensure a thorough and complete job. Read your piece backwards and you’re sure to pick up misused as well as misspelled words.

Oh and lastly, irregardless is not a word. Always use regardless. Take care in choosing your words and you’ll be writing wisely.

How to Make Money Writing and Selling e-Books

18 April, 2008 (16:49) | Writing & Speaking | By: admin

Writing and selling e-Books are a great way to generate passive income and establish yourself as an expert in your field. You may be thinking that you can’t write an e-Book for one reason or another or that the process of writing and selling is just too overwhelming. While it’s true it is a big undertaking, it is not impossible.

Many successful infopreneurs generate a great deal of passive income selling information online. The most obvious advantage of being an infopreneur is the low overhead and high earning potential. Once you’ve written an e-Book, tele-seminar, e-course or other information product, it can be sold over and over again. It is even better than selling a traditional book because you do not have to print anything and you don’t have to jump through publisher hoops. The costs to produce a piece of information are the same whether you are selling to one person or to millions.

To make it manageable, break the process into steps. The writing portion can be broken down as follows: choosing your topic; doing the research; writing the content; editing and proofreading; finishing touches; and finally publishing preferences. When you’re thinking about choosing your topic, think about things you’re very familiar with, passionate about or experienced with. Make sure your research is current and credible. A visit to your local library can help you verify facts and check statements. Editing and proofreading are critical. It’s difficult to develop any form of credibility if your content is littered with typographic errors. Once you’ve finished your book, explore different self-publishing options. An Internet search will reveal a myriad of choices.

After you’ve chosen your method of publication and you’re getting ready to sell, some of the things you’ll need to consider include: copyright, acknowledgements, bios, a cover, how the book is formatted, testimonials, bonuses you’ll offer, sales copy, payment processors, autoresponders, domain names, hosting, affiliate programs, audio messages and a Web site. Include a copyright statement as well as a statement about transferring e-Books — basically that it’s not allowed. Also include your acknowledgements. Thank everyone who helped you to write your book or gave you the required space and time to do it. It’s important to acknowledge family and friends especially when they provide much needed support and encouragement. You’ll need to include a bio and decide on a cover. Gather testimonials from people you respect who are prominent in the field you’ve written in. Create some bonuses to include with your e-Book. These can be checklists or coupons or special reports. Finally, create the sales copy for your Web site and set up your affiliate programs.

You’re almost ready to go. Next, you’ll need to create a marketing plan to promote your e-Book. Include such things as: signature lines, business cards, a blog, newsletters, article writing, product or service give-a-ways, press releases, affiliate contests, free classifieds, tele-classes, free samples, pay-per-click advertising, product or service donations, and e-Bay. You’ll also want to address how you plan to keep in contact with your customers after they’ve purchased your product or service. Take every opportunity you can to promote your e-Book. The more exposure you gain, the higher you’ll rank in the search engines.

The Internet has changed the way people look for and acquire information. For many the Internet is an overwhelming network of unimaginable volumes of information difficult to navigate and lacking in credibility. Infopreneurs wade through the myriad of information available on the Internet weeding out erroneous or outdated information and consolidating and presenting current accurate information in easily accessible and understandable forms.
